A family function, a company outing or just a day out with friends – museum cafe Het Spijslokaal is the place to go. Enjoy some time in Grand Café het Spijslokaal before, during or after your visit to open-air museum Het Hoogeland. Our friendly restaurant and auditorium is located in the beautiful old preschool of the open-air museum and has a terrace and a garden. This National Monument was built in 1903 together with the gym that was housed in the same premises. The preschool was for young children from the age of 4-6 and introduced children to education in a playful manner. The gym, where the auditorium is now housed, was built at the initiative of the local authority. The pupils of the Public Primary School (now the main building of the open-air museum) and of the Christian Primary School used the gym.

In Grand Café het Spijslokaal you can enjoy a cup of coffee or tea, a drink, cake or a number of other dishes. You can visit Het Spijslokaal without visiting the museum, because the restaurant has its own entrance at Oosterkerkpad 3. If you have something to celebrate, we serve or provide (booking required): High Tea, Afternoon Tea, High Wine, High Beer, Dinner, Lunch, Brunch, “Grunneger Kovvietoavel”, Reception, Anniversary, Leaving party, Tasting, Buffet etc. We also operate as a meeting site, we host weddings and organise special group packages.
