Parking

There is free parking throughout the village of Warffum. Parking spaces near the museum can be found on Schoolstraat, the crossing of Oosterstraat/Noorderstraat and on Stationsweg. It is best for coaches to park on Oosterstraat (next to the museum) or near the station. Bicycles can be parked next to the entrance to the museum on Schoolstraat. If you only visit the restaurant, bicycles can also be parked next to the entrance of the museum restaurant on Oosterkerkpad.

Accessibility

The museum site (cobblestones) is reasonably to properly accessible by disabled people. Due to the historic, authentic nature of the museum, some buildings have limited or no access for rollators or wheelchairs. The accessible toilet is in the restaurant building. There is a limited number of wheelchairs available for use from the museum’s reception. It is possible to book a wheelchair by sending an e-mail to receptie@hethoogeland.com or by calling +31 (0)595 42 22 33.

 

Guide dogs

The museum permits guide dogs, assistance dogs and buddy dogs of people with a medical or care need. Other dogs or pets are not permitted to enter the museum.

Open-air museum Het Hoogeland is affiliated to Museumkaart.

Openingstijden winter november - maart

Geopend op zaterdag van 10.00-17.00 uur en op zondagen  van 13.00 uur tot 17.00 uur. Het museum is gesloten op 25, 26 en 31 december en op 1 januari.

Directions

By car from Groningen
Take the exit “Winsum” from the Groningen ring road. Turn right just after Winsum and follow the signs to the open-air museum.

By car from Appingedam
Follow the N33 in the direction Eemshaven. Keep following this road through the villages Oosteinde, Roodeschool, Uithuizermeeden, Uithuizen and Usquert. When in Warffum, follow the signs to the open-air museum.

By public transport
From Groningen Main Station the train leaves for Warffum (final destination Roodeschool or Eemshaven) twice an hour on weekdays and once an hour on Sundays. From Warffum Station you can walk to the open-air museum in a few minutes.
